Staying Motivated in Building Your Parent Coaching Business

There are unparalleled benefits and rewards in starting your own parent coaching business. And… It's called 'building a business' for a very good reason. It takes time, focus, and motivation to create the business and life of your dreams.

There’s no question that learning
how to build a coaching business is worth it when you get to the place where you can see all your hard work paying off. The challenge is sometimes people don’t stay in it long enough to reap the rewards of their effort. It’s important to be realistic, celebrate every move you make, and remember that if it were easy, everyone would do it.

Business Motivation is a Renewable Resource

Motivation is a crucial ingredient for success, but it's important to realize that it won't always come naturally. Some days you'll wake up full of energy and excitement, while on other days, you may feel unmotivated and overwhelmed. That's okay. The key is to understand that motivation is not a constant state; you need to actively nurture and cultivate it.

Celebrating each action you take is an excellent way to focus on your accomplishments. It can be tempting to look too far ahead. Stay focused on
doing the next right thing to grow your business. Taking one step at a time is how every single successful business began.

Tap into the Positive Power of Your Network

Building a business can be challenging; it takes passion, guts, and willingness to keep going. Having a solid support system of like-minded people in your corner who understand your journey will make a world of difference.

The people in it with you can offer valuable advice, share their experiences, and provide a fresh perspective on overcoming obstacles as you learn how to build a thriving coaching business. You’ll celebrate each other’s successes, offer encouragement during tough times, and hold each other accountable for your goals.

Find ways to
connect with other parent coaches, join industry associations, and attend conferences and workshops. By expanding your network, you'll gain new perspectives and ideas that will fuel your motivation and drive.

The Guidance of Goals

Setting clear goals is essential for staying motivated in your parent coaching business. Establish both short-term and long-term goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

Break down these goals into actionable steps and track your progress along the way. Celebrate each milestone you achieve, no matter how small. DO NOT skip this step. Stopping to really celebrate and keeping your goals in sight will provide you with a sense of purpose and direction, motivating you to keep pushing forward.

Stay True to Your Mission (or Find a New One)

Your mission is the heart and soul of your parent coaching business. It's what drives you and defines your purpose. Remind yourself regularly of why you started this journey in the first place.

When encountering challenges or setbacks, reconnect with your mission to reignite your motivation. When clients give you positive feedback, write it down, frame it, and put it on your desk. Journal about the most transformative parts of this work and the difference it has made in your life and the lives of those you serve, and read it often.

If you find that your original mission no longer resonates with you, it may be time to redefine it. Align your business with your values and passions to maintain a deep sense of motivation and fulfillment.

Win, Lose, and Learn

Building a successful coaching business is a journey filled with ups and downs. Acknowledge your accomplishments and reward yourself often for your hard work. Read, listen to, and watch things that help you learn, grow and feel good along the way.

At the same time, don't shy away from failures or setbacks. Learn from them, adjust your strategies, and view them as valuable learning experiences. Embracing both successes and failures as part of the process will help you stay motivated and resilient.

Cultivate an inner voice that is your biggest cheerleader. Encourage yourself like you would your best friend. Don’t be afraid to become the most passionate supporter you have!

Your Unique Advantage

Every parent coach has unique strengths and qualities that set them apart. Identify your unique powers—the skills, knowledge, or perspectives that make you stand out from the crowd.

Leverage these powers to positively impact your clients and the industry as a whole. Recognizing and using your strengths will boost your confidence and motivation, making you more enthusiastic about building your business.

The True Value of Breaks

While building your parent coaching business is important, taking breaks and recharging your batteries is vital. Burnout can quickly diminish your motivation and hinder your progress. Schedule  regular time for rest, self-care, hobbies you love, and quality time with loved ones.

You are a business owner now. You are the force behind your success, so you need to treat yourself like the valuable resource you are. Engage in activities that bring you joy and help you relax. Taking breaks will rejuvenate your mind and body, enabling you to approach your business with renewed motivation and creativity.

It’s Always About Them

Your clients are the lifeblood of your parent coaching business. Stay focused on their needs and how you can best serve them. Take the time to understand their challenges, aspirations, and goals. This is essential for getting clients and providing incredible service to them.

Continually seek feedback and make adjustments to enhance their experience. Seeing the positive impact you're making on the lives of parents and families will fuel your motivation to keep growing and improving.

Ready, Set, Keep Going!

Building a thriving parent coaching business requires ongoing motivation and commitment.

  • Recognize that motivation fluctuates and make a conscious effort to cultivate it.
  • Expand your network, set clear goals, and stay true to your mission.
  • Celebrate your wins, learn from your losses, and embrace your unique powers.
  • Learn to support, encourage and look after yourself in new ways.
  • Take breaks to recharge and remain customer-centric.

Implementing these strategies will help you stay motivated while building your parent coaching business so you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and give yourself and your family the freedom and flexibility you want.

Dream big and be realistic. You have what it takes to succeed.
