Becoming a successful parenting coach is often as transformative as the work itself. Rachel’s story illustrates how a personal quest for better parenting can evolve into a thriving business that helps others. From her beginnings in coaching and certifying others in neurolinguistic programming and hypnotherapy to founding
House of Joy, Rachel’s path is one of continuous growth, innovation, and impact.
Before Rachel became a parenting coach, she was deeply involved in training and certifying coaches in techniques like neurolinguistic programming, hypnotherapy, and emotional freedom. Her work also included supporting coaches in growing their businesses blending online marketing strategies with coaching. However, her personal experience as a mother led her to pivot her career.
Rachel describes her journey into motherhood as a wake-up call. When her almost two-year-old son started showing his unique personality, needs, and emotions, she realized she needed to approach parenting differently than her parents had. Rachel sought out methods to parent more effectively, eventually discovering and falling in love with the techniques taught by Jai. This personal quest transformed her parenting and inspired her to become a parenting coach.
Rachel’s time with Jai allowed her to connect her knowledge of early childhood development with practical parenting techniques. “I think for me, it allowed me to connect the dots between what I knew about our formative years and the impact of our programming. Understanding the ‘how’ allowed me to understand the impact on an even deeper level.”
One of the most profound revelations for her was attachment theory. Understanding this theory helped Rachel realize how her early experiences shaped her behavior and relationships, not just with people but with other aspects like money and success. For example, she noticed that individuals with avoidant attachment styles often have a similar avoidance in their financial habits. This insight allowed her to bring a unique perspective to her coaching practice, helping clients understand the broader implications of their attachment styles.
After her transformative experience with Jai, Rachel launched her first project, a 12-week transformational parenting program. This group program laid the foundation for what would eventually become House of Joy. Initially, Rachel balanced her role as a business coach with her new identity as a parenting coach. However, in January of the following year, she fully embraced her calling, through House of Joy.
House of Joy is an online membership and community app designed to help parents reprogram their subconscious minds for success in parenting and personal ambitions. Rachel’s mission is to show that parents, particularly mothers, can have a thriving home life and successful personal and professional lives. This mission was born from her experience of trying to balance a successful business with a happy family life, often feeling like one was suffering at the expense of the other.
Rachel shares, “So my whole mission and vision is that you can have both. You can have success, a successful business, and the personal goals or hobbies that you desire to have. And you can have a thriving, happy, healthy home life. It doesn't have to come at the expense of both, which, for me, is where I was starting to see myself in my own business before pivoting. I really took a step back, recovered from burnout, and figured out how I could have both. A big chunk of that was the tools and practices I learned at Jai, and then sharing them with other parents and mamas.”
Rachel’s background as a business coach gives her a unique perspective on growing a parent coaching business. She emphasizes the importance of sharing personal experiences and stories as a powerful marketing tool. Authenticity, she believes, is the key to attracting the right clients. She believes that if you “Share your story and your message, the right people will gravitate towards you.”
She advises new coaches to follow their intuition and find a business model that suits their current life circumstances. Rachel stresses that there are many ways to build a business, but each person needs to find the path that works best for them. This includes setting realistic goals and being mindful of how much time they can dedicate to their business.
Additionally, Rachel highlights the importance of mindset. She believes supporting the subconscious mind to believe in one’s goals is crucial for success. Without this belief, achieving those goals becomes significantly more challenging.
Since its launch, House of Joy has received much positive feedback from its members. Rachel shares that hearing how her work has helped others is incredibly fulfilling. For instance, members have reported success with hypnosis tracks and parenting communication guides available through the platform.
One particularly exciting aspect of House of Joy is its appeal to expectant mothers. Rachel notes that several members joined the community while pregnant, eager to prepare for motherhood in a supportive and enlightened way. This early engagement is a powerful indicator that House of Joy is resonating with its intended audience and has the potential to make a significant generational impact.
When asked about her vision for House of Joy, Rachel expresses her desire to expand its reach to hundreds of thousands of people. She says, “I would like to reach as many empowered and ambitious moms as I can.” While she has not fully mapped out the future, she envisions hosting retreats or community events. Rachel has always valued in-person connections and immersive learning experiences, and she hopes to incorporate these elements into House of Joy as it grows.
Rachel’s journey from a business coach to a parenting coach and now founder of House of Joy underscores the power of personal transformation and the impact of following one’s true calling. Her story also highlights the importance of authenticity, intuition, and mindset in building a successful coaching business. As House of Joy continues to grow, Rachel’s vision of empowering parents to achieve success at home and in their personal ambitions will inspire many more.
