A Trip from Chaos to Calm

Embracing the Journey: From Dreaming to Understanding the Realities of Parenting

Parenting has always fascinated me, leading to a deeper exploration of its complexities. I focus on various parenting styles and their impact on a child’s emotional intelligence and creativity. This journey began as I struggled with my own feelings of anger, frustration, and stress in parenting.

Growing up, I dreamt of having a big family with four kids. However, I didn’t fully grasp the challenges of raising children while balancing a full-time job. I often dismissed friends' parenting struggles, seeing them as ungrateful complaints. I lacked empathy, unaware of the immense responsibility and the significant energy, patience, and understanding parenting requires.

Now, I recognize that parenting is a full-time job in itself, a magical and blessed experience demanding dedication and resilience. This journey has taught me to cherish every moment, as the challenges are intertwined with countless rewards. Join me as I explore the intricacies of parenting, sharing my insights and experiences to support and inspire fellow parents on this incredible journey.

How I Started My Journey Towards Parenting Expertise

One evening, I returned home from work at 7:30 p.m., exhausted and stressed, needing to bathe my kids and put them to sleep. Despite my fatigue, I knew I had to be there for my twins; they needed me. One of the twins had difficulty sleeping, and I felt completely drained, needing comfort myself. The caregivers, waiting for me to take over, also needed a break. But what about me? When would I get to relax?

These thoughts swirled in my mind, amplifying my stress and bringing me to the verge of tears. I struggled to soothe my child, feeling a surge of anger when he wouldn’t sleep. At that moment, I had two crucial realizations: I needed the energy to be there for my twins, and I needed to change my job.

I transitioned to remote work to be closer to my children, but the anger didn’t dissipate. Overwhelmed by work and unable to find quality time with my kids, I decided to delve deeper into the world of parenting. I wanted to understand my anger and learn how to treat my children fairly while maintaining my career.

Parenting Started Being Fun

When I discovered the Jai Institute for Parenting, it was a turning point for me. The parent coaching program provided the tools and insights I needed to balance my responsibilities and find happiness at home.

I started applying the tools I had learned in the course, and things started to improve at home. I felt at ease next to my kids, and I really understood their feelings and needs. I shifted my thinking from “Oh, I have a lot of to-dos…” to “It is my kids’ quality time now; let me enjoy it.”

My time with them shifted from purely tasks and responsibilities to fun times, and to tell you the truth, I am enjoying freedom a lot. I am living childish moments, and I am grateful for my kids, who have taught me to enjoy the moments. Time with them moved from bathing, eating, etc.… to dancing, singing, running, screaming, playing, storytelling, etc.

I do not claim that I have a 100% stress-free parenting style now. Parenting is a learning journey, and every phase has its own situation and needs. But what I can say is that I feel confident and at ease now because I know and understand my child's needs and brain development phases, and I can easily say I have the tools to overcome the challenges.

Parenting is a full-time job. I salute each parent, whether they are stay-at-home parents or working parents. Both have a heavy schedule… but when empowered parenting tools are applied, heaviness subsides.
